Plastic Injection Molding Process

Modor plastics are 100% designed and assembled in the USA by a staff committed to shipping perfect parts, every time. We employ multiple quality inspections and manufacturing milestones to guarantee that your standards are met throughout our entire plastic injection molding process.

For more than 30 years, we’ve maintained a reputation for producing the highest quality products at the lowest per unit price. Whether you need 10 products or 10,000,000, we promise to produce the best parts possible using the most cost-effective methods.

Design

Have design questions? Our team can guide you through design best practices, including recommendations on wall thicknesses, plastic types, shrinkage compensation, radius limitations, weight reduction, finishing and stiffness. Once final design has been approved, we create a specification sheet that includes an economic analysis and optional cost-saving design considerations.

Prototype

Prototyping is another opportunity to review design and identify product improvements before production. Simply provide a supported CAD format (CADKEY, IGES, DXF, STL or Pro/Engineer) and we’ll create a cost-effective stereolithic model.

Mold Construction

We handle mold construction and tooling design in-house to eliminate outside vendor costs. We also maintain tooling at our facility to facilitate future production runs.

Manufacture

Using the approved specification sheet, we manufacture your product using the most cost-effective method that meets your design standards.

Assemble and Decorate

We offer manual and automated pad/screen printing to meet all your artwork needs. We can screen logos, product directions, warning labels, etc. directly on the plastic with minimal added production costs. Decorated products are then fully-assembled at our facility to further reduce costs.

CNC Perf

Often referred to as perf or perf%u2019ing, perforations are CNC machined square or round holes that are accurate down to fractions of an inch with no upper limit. Perfs allow easy placement of switches and lights, as well as weight reduction opportunities.

Inspection

Our three point inspection process involves an initial visual inspection off the production line followed by an electronic inspection using up to 50x optical magnification. Products are inspected again at our QC station to ensure customers receive a perfect product.

Packaging and Shipping

Our central location in Middle Tennessee makes it easy for us to ship parts anywhere in the United States. We offer a wide range of standard and custom packaging options and will be happy to ship overseas.
